Dust Off Your Blue Suede Shoes

There are still a few more opportunities to spend time with Elvis at the MichenerArt Museum.

John Monforto, a noted Elvis impersonator who can show off a thing or two in his blue suede shoes, will be at the Museum May 1, 12:30 to 1:30 pm, to croon Elvis’s greatest hits. It’s all part of Ali and Elvis: American Icons, on view at the Museum through May 15.

 After lunch with Elvis, stick around for Elvis at 21: Why Elvis Matters, A Panel Discussion, May 1, 2 to 4 pm in the Ann and Herman Silverman Pavilion
($10 members/$20 non-members, includes Museum admission; advance registration required).
Elvis at 21 exhibition curators come together to explore the life and legacy of Elvis Presley in illustrated presentations and panel discussion.

Looking for a special treat for your loved ones on Mother’s Day Weekend, May 6 through 8? Spend it at the MichenerArt Museum, enjoying the photo exhibitions Elvis at 21 and Muhammad Ali: The Making of an Icon, as well as Add Sugar and Stir: Cookbooks and the Lives of Women, artist Kirby Fredendall’s collages of vintage cookbooks, pre-1950s. What a wonderful way to liberate the mothers in your family from the kitchen! And don’t forget to treat those moms to something from the gift shop.

 For some extra fun, return to the Museum Sunday, May 15, 3 to 4 pm, for Elvis at 21 – Elvis Rocks: Special Music Presentationpresented by Bristol Riverside Theatre (Ann and Herman Silverman Pavilion, $10 members/$20 non-members, includes Museum admission. Advance registration is required.)

The king of rock ’n’ roll lives on as Bristol Riverside Theatre presents a special one hour preview performance featuring some of Elvis’s greatest hits such as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Love Me Tender” and more.
