April is National Poetry Month, and in honor of this art form, the James A. Michener Art Museumand the Central Bucks School District will host an evening of poetry on Wednesday, April 27, 6:30 to 9 pm, featuring current and former Bucks County Poets Laureate, established local poets and outstanding student poets from Central Bucks high schools. Lins, who grew up in Hamilton, NJ, developed her ear while listening to Bruce Springsteen. Others may have been spinning his LPs, but Lins was poring over the record sleeves, taken by Sprinsteen’s words. Later, she discovered Pablo Neruda and other poets, and studied with former Bucks County Poet Laureate Christopher Bursk at Bucks County Community College.

Lins has published a chapbook, I Called it Swimming, and her poetry has appeared in the Bucks County Writer, And the Questions Are Enough, The Schuylkill Valley Journal, Mudfish 16, and Eating Her Wedding Dress. She received the Penland Prize for Poetry from Bucks County Community College.

Professor and Poet Bursk will be joining Lins, as will other former Poets Laureate.

Three student poets from each of the three high schools in the Central Bucks School District, selected in a competition, will read and be celebrated for their accomplishments.

The reading was originated by area poet and former Central Bucks East English teacher Marylou Streznewski, who will be among the noted poets reading this year.
